Western Defence is a Self Defence based Ju-Jitsu club that offers training for all ages from Prep through to Adult. Classes are split into Junior 5-13 yrs old and senior from 12 yrs old and up.

The students are taught about awareness, self-control, balance, respect and self-defence as well as increasing fitness, co-ordination and hand/eye control. Basic through to advanced techniques in Japanese based Ju-Jitsu are taught which covers all areas of the martial arts from hand and foot techniques,  1 on 1 and multiple attackers be it with or without weapons to full body locking techniques and control methods.

Affiliated with the Australian Ju-Jitsu Association (http://www.ajja.org) the head instructor Dean and his wife Julie run the club. With a combined training history of over 50+ years the students are in more than capable hands. Dean started as a junior @ 7 and Julie a senior @ 14. Both have achieved Black belt or Dan level with Julie being a Nidan (2nd degree black) and Dean a Yondan (4th degree black).

Based @ Altona Meadows Primary School since July 2009 there is a varying level of students throughout the club with some of the senior group progressing to assisting in teaching the juniors.

Classes are currently held of a Wednesday during school terms.

Junior class         415pm till 515pm

Senior class         530pm till 700pm
